Still We Act – A Community Art Campaign for Protecting Children

CERV-A-2023-1198
Hungarian Association for Psychodrama
Budapest

The child protection system in Hungary is struggling with deep-rooted, systemic issues. In many institutions, neglectful or even abusive behavior is not uncommon, often resulting in lifelong harm to children. Within this system, children's fundamental right to safety is compromised, as their wellbeing heavily depends on the operation and quality of care provided by institutions.

The initiative of the Hungarian Psychodrama Association aims to raise awareness of these issues through artistic tools and personal stories. It seeks to strengthen solidarity among those who wish to take action—whether by encouraging collaboration among families, parents, and women, by fostering support among professionals, or by mobilizing school and kindergarten communities.

As part of the campaign, the Association invites the public to engage in collective reflection. By showcasing the example of a local women’s community and creative group, it highlights alternative ways of creating safe environments for children. The initiative also opens a dialogue on how communities can exert pressure on institutions, and how local partnerships can be formed to help fill gaps in the system and support children more effectively.
