Hundreds of babies continue to lie abandoned in hospital cribs, some of them separated from their parents, even though their families are waiting to bring them home. The Hungarian Civil Liberties Union (TASZ) has been advocating for years to protect the rights of children separated from their families due to poverty, as well as those young people who enter the child protection system, where their rights are often violated.
In their latest campaign, they are drawing attention to this increasingly severe issue. Additionally, they are seeking answers from the relevant authorities regarding how many children are in hospitals and in what status, as the exact numbers are currently unknown. TASZ aims to push decision-makers to take meaningful steps toward a long-term, comprehensive reform of the child protection system—one where no child is separated from their parents due to poverty, and where the rights of children entering the system are effectively safeguarded by the state.
