The main goal of the initiative is to raise awareness about autism and strengthen their community. The programme aims to empower affected families and promote their active citizenship.
The concerned parents receive training on autism-related rights and self-advocacy and they can join the parent and professional groups formed in the project. Besides, the association trains community leaders, and priority is also given to developing closer links with care institutions. In addition, recruitment and communication campaigns, awareness-raising programs and information materials on the theme are carried out.
The activities mobilise professionals and experts with experience to form a group which can work together in an organised way to define their objectives and present them in a consistent way to the majority of society and decision-makers. The effective functioning of the group helps improve the quality of services provided locally for families (e.g. in education or health), raise awareness and acceptance of autism and improve the well-being of families and individuals with autism.
